Founded as Sansui Shipping Software, the company originally had created and
sold a popular ERP solution for Shipping Companies. A tie up between Ravi Dugal of
Abacus Computers and Sanjeev Deo of Sansui Shipping Software, led to a new company
being formed – Sansui Software Pvt. Ltd.
Abacus Computers already had a history of creating publishing solutions and had built
a solid reputation as a product company that dealt with publishing workflows,
streamlined printing processes and created language solutions for the publishing
industry.
From creation of outsourced applications in the publishing space, the company also
started writing plugins and XTensions for Adobe InDesign and Quark XPress. While
helping many industry leaders port their plugin or xtension code between versions
or platforms, Sansui also created many of its own products and began selling these
on the web and through channels.
Sansui's modular SmartNews editorial system offered Web-based tools to assign,
research, write (with Quark CopyDesk, Adobe InCopy, or Sansui's Web-based editor)
, write remotely to fit, track, and archive stories, as well as manage wire
stories and images.
Eventually the company focused its product offerings in the advertising arena – this
being the core focus of most publishing houses and definitely the most revenue generating.
PublishNow! – a suite of web-to-print software solutions was originally written in ASP.
The fourth generation PublishNow! is now available in Flex/Flash and provides an immersive
and interactive experience for users of the system.
